The Department of Environment and Forest, Govt. of Daman & Diu, October 09, 2025, notified regarding Re-categorisation of Industries on Pollution Potential.
The following amendments have been stated:
• It states that it is required to obtain consent from the Pollution Control Committee to establish or to take any steps to establish any industry, operate or process or any treatment and disposal system which is likely to discharge sewerage or trade effluent into a stream or sewer or on land and also to operate any industrial plant in an Air Pollution Control Area.
• Whereas it is essential to facilitate regulated industrial growth of industries in the Union Territory of Daman & Diu, in line with the recent initiative of the Government of India, viz "Make In India" and "Ease of Doing Business", and "Harmonising the categorisation of industries " as done by the Central Pollution Control Board.
• Therefore, decided to re-categorise the industries into Category I, Category II, and Category III depending upon their Pollution Potential, Effluent Discharge, Emission into Ambient Air, Generation of Hazardous and Solid Waste, Foul Odours and Noise Pollution, Hazard and Explosion Potential and Public Safety and Health
